I'm liking 1984 so far. It's good. It sort of deals with an alternate reality where London is part of Oceania and is under a Communist rule. Interesting.

I really disliked 1984, but that was because I had to read it for school, when you have to note all of the themes and other things while reading.

Manifold: Space! It's about aliens taking over the world! Machine aliens! That speak Latin!

There's a series of books by Alexander Kent, and they follow the adventures of a character called Richard Bolitho as he works his way through the ranks from Midshipman to Admiral during the reign of George III. The series is usually called the Bolitho series, but the books themselves are all individually titled.

They're good. Better than Hornblower.
