Characterization Thread: Obi-Wan Kenobi

In the PT, we see Obi-Wan Kenobi rise from a Jedi Padawan to a revered Council Member and Master. However, his adventures make him a very interesting character. Do you like how Obi-Wan was characterized?

Oh I like how OBI-WAN was characterised. Especially in the book versions of the movies. Anakin on the other hand...

Back to Obi, though. I think there are facets of his personallity that weren't explored. Actually, I think he wasn't explored very much, full stop. I think the movies focus too much on the Chosen One, exploring every little facet of his one-facet personallity. I'm sorry to anyone who likes Anakin, but I really don't like him, and my opinion won't be changed.

The books are so much better, because they are able to explore what every character is thinking.

Well, GL says that the Saga is supposed to be the story of Anakin, making Obi-Wan a secondary character although he is still important in the overall story arc. However, a little bit more characterization and background for him would have been nice in the movies.

Well, if we all listened to Anakin, we'd think that Obi-Wan was a horrible man, who cared for nothing but his own gain. And we'd think that Palpatine was a saint.

But the bits that Obi-Wan was in, were characterised well, IMO.

Yeah, Obi was good. And by good I mean awesome.

I agree with Anakin being not as good, though. Arrgh! I wanted to punch him every time he whined about Obi-Wan.

I thought that Obi-Wan was done in a way where he matures and becomes the smart old man we see in Episode 4.
